曲としては（たぶんピアニスト？の）Jack Jackson と演奏中もずっと業務連絡？やら会話を続けてるだけのナンバーで、正直に言うと「なんでこんなの録音した？」ゆう感じです。ナゾ⋯

次はちょっと通常のレコーディングとは異なり、いわば「企画モノ」ってヤツでしょうか World Pacific による Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee、そして Big Joe Williams も加えてアルバム・タイトルは Down South Summit Meetin'⋯合奏やサポート、さらに雑談（？）こみ。

ってのがありましたが（ How Long Have It Been Since You Been Home? のみ Vocal & Guitar : Lightnin' のソロ！）他の曲じゃ不純な夾雑物（こらこら！）が多くって一度聴いてイヤになった録音です。な〜んてゆうと他の三人のフアンがゲキドするな、きっと⋯

1960 年の秋からは、いわゆる PRESTIGE / BLUESVILLE 録音時代（？）が始まります。
ところでみなさまは Lightnin' Hopkins の Automobile Blues をご存知でしょうか？⋯というよりオールド・オリジナルとニュー（？）Automobile Blues があるのでございますよ。
カンゼンに個人的な好みによるものではございますが、Automobile Blues といえば、1949 年の Gold Star 原盤 ( Gold Star 666 カップリングは Zolo Go aka Got To Go ) こそがオリジナルであ〜る！ゆうのは確かに正論でございます。
しか〜しっ重量感（？）怨念度（？？）潜航深度（？？？）などが「さらに凝縮された」ように感じられる 2652 : Automobile Blues ( Prestige 343 ) のプレゼンスに立ちくらみしそうにアット〜された身としては一切の罵詈雑言を遮断し、この Prestige に吹き込まれたテイクこそが究極の Automobile Blues である！と暴言を吐き続けてまいります⋯

実は Aladdin 時代、1946-11-09、California 州 Hollywood の Santa Monica Blvd 7000 番地、Radio Recorders Studio で吹き込み、I Feel So Bad ( Aladdin 168 ) の裏面となった曲 Rocky Mountain Blues とゆうナンバー、それを Sonny Terry のハープ、Leonard Gaskin のベース、Belton Evans のドラムともに吹き込んでいます。

Happy Blues For John Glenn については同じ録音かどうか検証できていません。
Bluesville BV 1029 はマトリックス 2623 ~ 2630 を収録したアルバムで 1961 年リリース。
マトリックスの順番とアルバムの収録曲順が「完全に」一致しています。
Van Gelder Studio は録音技術者 Rudolph Van Gelder（略称 Rudy 1924-11-02〜2016-08-25 ）の実家のリヴィング・ルームを改装した録音スタジオを始め、やがて 1959 年には本格的なスタジオを Englewood Cliffs にオープンした。
この 2623 以降の録音では当然その新しいスタジオが使われている。本来の彼はジャズ系の録音がメインだったようで Blue Note や Savoy、Verve などのための録音も行なっていた。

そしてその二週間後に吹き込んだのが

ところでこの Prestige 45-343 Automobile Blues のカップリングになってるのが⋯
まさか！の（？）Mojo Hand なのでございますねえ。でも個人的には Automobile Blues の大深度潜航（？）具合がヨロシいのでございますよ。Mojo Hand は彼の別な側面、って感じでしょか。

シツレ〜ながら上記三曲はマトリックスが付加されておりません。かつ Black Gal ではなく Black Cadillac だとすると「さらに」整合性は高まるのですが、Black Gal ですと 1961-07-07 rec. in Houston, TX というデータも存在し、それでも 1960-11-09 rec. in Van Gelder Studio, Englewood Cliffs, NJ. というマトリックス 2652~2661 のレコーディング・データとは合致いたしません。

IVORY 91272 のリリースは 1961 年としか判明していませんので実際の録音は 1960 年だった可能性を排除できない⋯（なお海外のコレクターズ・サイトではこれを Herald レコーディング・セッションからの流出ではないか？としているコメントもついておりましたが、King Ivory Semien のドラムをバックに IVORY で収録したもの、とゆう反論も寄せられておりました）

明らかに 1961 年の録音、となるとこれも同じ PRESTIGE / BLUESVILLE なのですが⋯
こっからはマトリックスが不明なのでリリース順（？）らしき並び方に「されて」おるようで、当然これは「実際の」録音順とは「まったく違う」可能性がございます。おそらくレーベル側の資料を「そのまま」書き写したもの、と思われますので、引用される場合は要注意です。

wirz.de の記述では「あくまでも」Billy Bizor のバッキングとして Lightnin' がギターで参加した「アルバム用の録音」だったようですから、Arhoolie が結局リリース「しなかった」のも、Billy Bizor じゃなあ⋯ゆう採算性への不安があったのでは？？？

ヴォーカルとハープのブルースマン。'60 年代初頭に Lightnin' のレコーディングにハーピストとして参加していた。
彼自身のアルバムは結局、後に "Blowing my blues away’’ : Home Cooking Records HCS-111 としてリリースされている。
そのアルバムに収録された全 11 曲中、Vietnam War と You Just Got To Miss Me では Lightnin' がヴォーカルとギターとなっています。

ただ、Death Bells という曲自体は 1948 年秋の Gold Star への吹き込み（ Gold Star 646-B ）で吹き込んでいるようですが、Gold Star 原盤での同曲を聞いたことが無いため、確実に断言は出来ませんが（両方ともマトリックス不明！）おそらく新規録音だろう、って気はしています。
また A 面の Sail On, Little Girl, Sail On では、曲名がちょい短縮された Sail On, Little Girl として 1968 年 1 月17日に Houston で録音された、という記録があるらしいのですが、未確認です。
あ、Discography の一方の雄（？）Discogs ではこの *- 二曲カップリングのシングルの発売時期を 1960 年、としており、それでは時系列が整合しません。
その Discogs のアルバム紹介で同曲を収録しているライナーでは、 二曲とも "recorded at ACA Studios (Gold Star Studios), Houston, TX, July 26, 1961 " と記されておりますので、当バイオ（つ〜か、もはやディスコグラフィ？）ではその日付を推奨（？）いたしておきます。

一見空白期間（？）にも見える 1961 年の後半ですが、録音スタジオ不明ながら 1961-11-15 録音らしい

ど〜考えても 1962-02-17 に録音した曲、ってのが正しいとすれば、1961 年に発売できるワケありません⋯
Fire ゆうたらお馴染みの Bobby Robinson ( 本名 Morgan Clyde Robinson ) のニューヨークのレーベルなんですが「録音史には残ってない」ヒミツのレコーディング・セッションを 1961 年の前半に行ってて「それをリリースした」とか？
なお FIRE のセンター・ラベルのカラーからすると 1960 夏から1961 年の五月まで使用されたデザインのように思われますので PRESTIGE / BLUESVILLE の目を盗んで（？）ヒソカに録音されちゃってたのかも？？？
FIRE ; 初期（ 1959 年 6 月から一年間）のセンター・ラベルは白地に赤い文字、次いで多色使いの地に黒文字で FIRE を 1961 年の 5 月まで。その後は赤地に黒い FIRE の文字で 1962 年末まで。⋯という⋯からこのシングルのセンターラベルは 1960 6 月以降、1961 年の春までの間にリリースされたシングルであり、逆算すると録音から製品化するまでの期間を考えると、1961 年前半の「空白」期間の録音ではないか？ゆう「気はします」The third Fire label was red with black print. This was used for the 500 series from about June, 1961, to December, 1962. The blue Fire label with silver print was used for the 1500 series starting May, 1962. The yellow Fire label was used for the 2000 series in 1969. The 5000 series in 1972 used a light blue label.

〜と、ここまでは 2026-04-06 現在の更新分です。

シカゴが主流となったあたりの彼は「 Folk-Blues 」シンガーであり、ジョーン・バエズやピート・シーガーなどとともに Carnegie Hall にも出演。1960 年代を通して彼はどこでも（フォーク・フェスティヴァルでもコーヒー・ハウスの小さなステージででも、あるいはジェファーソン・エアプレーンやグレートフル・デッドとの共演のときでさえ）彼の「 Low-Down Blues 」のスタイルを貫いたようです（⋯が、そのこと自体、彼の矜持のなせるワザかどうかは判らないような気がしております。むしろプロモーター側で「そうであること」を押し出していたのではないか？ゆう個人的な疑問がフツフツと⋯）。
ただ、カネにさえなりゃ、どことでも契約する、っちゅう基本姿勢（？）のためか、彼の吹き込んだレーベルは実に 20 以上にもなります。おそらく、こんなにあっちこっちのレーベルに録音が散逸（？）してるブルースマンってのも珍しいかもしれません。さらに「 Walking And Walking 」のように、1980 年代末まで、その存在さえ知られていなかった録音が「発掘」されたりもしていたのです。
Houston のプロデューサー、Roy C. Ames によって1968 年の 1 月17日に録音されたもので、他にも「 Rainy Day In Houston 」（これもダルでレイジーでヘヴィーないいブルースなのだ）How Dooz It / Lonesome Life / Pine Gum Boogie / Got A Letter This Morning / The Stinking Foot / Good As Old Time Religion がまとめて『 LONESOME LIFE 』 P-VINE PCD-2331 に収録されています。
1980 年にはブルースの殿堂入りをはたしていますが、1982 年の 1 月30日、名声と無名の両極端を経験し、最後まで強烈な個性を放ち続けた Lightnin' Sam Hopkins は、癌のために死亡しました。

まことに勝手ながら Sam John Hopkins、そう、”Lightnin’” Hopkins のディスコグラフィ部分を「判明したとっから」順次ここに上げております。
いったんアップした部分であっても、その後新事実やら異説・珍説・奇説・暴説・新説など出て来ましたら追加していくことになります。
ま、ある意味「やった〜！これで完成だ〜！」などと言える日は訪れることは無いであろう！」っちゅうフキツな予感はしておりますが、それでもまあ、やらないよりはマシかも？ちゅう一縷のキボ〜を持って粛々と（？）
